The food business operator is responsible for compliance of the food information it provides (DGAV does not approve labels); for cosmetics the Responsible Person's name and address must be on the label and must match the CPNP notification, with the PIF address highlighted if several addresses appear.

DGAV states consumer food information in Portugal must be given in Portuguese (non-prepacked food under Decreto-Lei 26/2016); Decreto-Lei 23/2025 requires cosmetic label items b), c), d) and f) of Article 19(1) and Article 19(2)-(3) in Portuguese, translations by indelible adhesive label respecting the original, and loose-sold cosmetics labelled in Portuguese by the retailer with the original product's ingredients and batch.

Nutrition claims only from the annex of Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 and health claims only once authorised on the Commission register; DGAV notes brand names carrying generic claims needed an authorised supporting claim after the 19 January 2022 transition.
